Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matthew 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
We feel compelled to think that we need to have this LOVE in our hearts for all the people around us, and our enemies, and people that we don't generally like for one reason or another. We came up with a saying I don't like you right now, but I do love you. And when you think about all the people that have hurt you or wronged you in any way, you don't feel this love swelling inside of you for these people. but Jesus teaches us to love our enemies and bless them and pray for them. And you think that, man Im so far from being this good person God wants me to be! How can I ever do Gods will?and love the people that have hurt me?
But as we all know love is not always a feeling its also an action. We see from scripture God doesn't give us instruction on having sweet, fluffy feelings in our hearts for these people. But to show them love, to bless them verbally, to pray for them silently, do good deeds for them. Not hurt them in return and curse them in return. But patiently comply to Gods teachings and do the good deeds for them, help them, pray for them and bless them.
